Welcome to the Home of the
Cycling Knights!
We are a growing community of students, alumni and fans of the University of Central Florida. Our student members compete in Division I of the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference as part of USA Cycling every Spring semester. New this year is our non-student membership. Yes, starting this road season, you can race for us without being enrolled as a student! Our license is currently pending. Watch (out) for us at local cycling events and group rides year-round!
Help Us Race!
We are currently saving up for the next collegiate season in Spring 2014! Travel costs are a huge barrier, and our student members really need your help to get there. Every dollar you have to offer counts! Be sure to check out our t-shirts and cycling kits for sale at the appropriate tab above.
UCF KNIGHTS AT COLLEGIATE ROAD NATIONALS
Two of our members, Tony SigRist and Rebecca Whitsitt, qualified for and attended the competition in Ogden, UT, May 3rd-5th. This is the first time UCF has made it to Nationals since alumnus Adam Baskin's time (a decade ago!). Along to help mentor and make race preparations for the riders was Joe Miller of Müller Velo. Not having a TTT team, Rebecca decided to try out Friday's ITT on Antelope Island, and Tony decided to save his legs for the crit. The crit was held in picturesque downtown Ogden, with dry, cool air and a mountainous backdrop. The RR featured a 1.5-mile category 5 climb, followed by a 4.7-mile category 1 climb. Placed near the very end of the race, this section proved to be make-or-break in both the men's and women's races, resulting in a splintered field after staying mostly together leading up to it. Rebecca was thrilled to have a call-up to the start line for both the Crit and the RR, as she had won the Omnium Leader Jersey for our conference, the SECCC. With one top-ten result in the mix, these flat-landers got a taste of success and are ready to improve. Next year's competition will be in Richmond, Virginia at the new World Championship course!
